What rises to the top, and why

Pranan scores every incoming thread on three axes: sender importance, content urgency, and your historical response pattern.

Sender importance is learned from your sent mail. People you reply to within an hour rank high. People you reply to within 24 hours rank medium. People who get the same canned no-thanks rank low.

Content urgency is detected through language signals: customer language indicating churn risk, investor language indicating concern, time-sensitive asks ('by EOD,' 'before Monday'), explicit urgency markers.

The ranking is dynamic. A low-priority sender suddenly using urgent language gets boosted. A high-priority sender sending a newsletter gets demoted.
