The Story Behind the Name

Pranan

Sanskrit for life force. The invisible energy that connects thought to action.

pra-naan / noun / from the Sanskrit root "prana"

Where the name comes from

Pranan comes from the Sanskrit word for life force. It shares its root with "prana" -- the breath, the vital energy that sustains everything in Indian philosophy.

Prana isn't just about breathing. It's the invisible force that connects mind, body, and intention. It's what makes something alive rather than just functional.

That's exactly what we set out to build.

Two truths in one name

The Philosophy

Life Force

In Sanskrit, prana is the energy that flows through all living things. It connects thought to action without being asked. Pranan carries that same idea into how AI should work.

The Intention

Serve Life, Not Consume It

Technology should give you time back, not take more of it. Pranan exists so you can spend less time managing work and more time on what actually matters.

Not another tool. A life force for your work.

Most AI products are built to be used. You open them, give commands, wait for outputs. They sit in a tab until you need them.

Pranan is different. It reads your emails. It manages your calendar. It anticipates what comes next. It acts on your behalf, the way only someone who truly knows you would.

The way prana flows through a body without being told to, Pranan flows through your work without being asked.

"We didn't want to build another AI assistant. We wanted to build something that feels less like software and more like an extension of you. Something alive."

-- Pratik Thakker, Founder

Built on three beliefs

Invisible by Design

The best AI doesn't need you to open an app. It works in the background, where your life already happens.

Personal, Not Generic

Pranan learns your voice, your patterns, your preferences. It's your AI -- not everyone's.

Action Over Answers

AI that only answers questions is a search engine. Pranan acts. It sends, schedules, follows up, and moves things forward.

How to tell the story

Different contexts, same core truth. Here's the language ready to use.

Landing Page / Brand Narrative
Pranan comes from the Sanskrit word for life force -- the energy that flows through everything, connecting thought to action. We built Pranan to be that same invisible force for your work. Not another app to check. Not another tool to learn. A personal AI that breathes with your day and moves on your behalf.
Press / Interviews / Short Form
The name comes from an ancient Sanskrit concept -- prana, meaning life force. We wanted to build something that feels less like software and more like an extension of you. Something alive. That's why we called it Pranan.
Social / Twitter / LinkedIn
Pranan = "life force" in Sanskrit. The invisible energy that connects thought to action. That's what personal AI should feel like. Not a tool you open. A force that moves with you.
Investor Narrative
Pranan means "life force" -- the energy that animates, that connects intention to action without friction. We named it deliberately. The next generation of AI won't live in a chat window. It will be an invisible layer that operates on your behalf -- across email, calendar, messaging, and voice. Pranan is that layer.

One name. One idea. A thousand ways to say it.

Every time someone asks "what does Pranan mean?" -- it's an invitation to tell a story that no competitor can replicate. A name rooted in philosophy, built with intention, and designed to resonate at a human level.

The name is also deeply personal to the founder. That layer of the story is his to share when the moment feels right -- and when he does, it makes the brand unforgettable.
