The short answer
Your emails are yours. Pranan reads your sent mail to learn how you write, but the result is a personal voice profile isolated to your account. We don't pool data, train shared models on user emails, or share voice profiles between users.
This is different from how some AI tools handle data. The default in many products is to use customer content for model improvement. Pranan was designed differently from the start because the trust model wouldn't work otherwise. If you can't trust the AI with your sent mail, you can't get the value.
What Pranan reads and what it does with it
Pranan reads your sent emails (and Slack messages if you connect Slack) to build:
- Your communication DNA, a structured voice profile
- A relationship map classifying contacts into tiers (investor, client, partner, team, advisor)
- Context notes on each relationship for better drafting
This data lives in your account. It's used to generate drafts for you. It's not seen by other users. It's not used to train models that other users benefit from.
What Pranan doesn't do
We don't train shared models on your emails. Your sent mail does not become training data for Pranan's general capabilities.
We don't sell or share your data with third parties for marketing.
We don't read or use email content beyond what's needed to draft your replies and surface the morning briefing.
We don't keep email content longer than necessary. Storage is minimized to what's required for the product to work.
How is the data secured?
Three layers:
End-to-end encryption protects data in transit. Your emails are encrypted between Pranan and Gmail.
Encryption at rest protects data on Pranan's servers. We use AES-256.
Account isolation means your voice profile and email data are scoped to your account specifically. No cross-user access.
What about Gmail's data sharing?
Pranan connects to Gmail through Google's OAuth. We only request the scopes we need (read sent mail, send drafts, archive). You can revoke access from Google's account dashboard at any time.
Google requires regular security audits for apps with this level of access. Pranan complies with those requirements.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. Cancel your account in one click. All data is removed before the end of the billing period. You can also export your voice profile and relationship data before deletion if you want to keep a copy.
What about SOC 2 and other compliance?
SOC 2 Type II is in progress as of April 2026. We're building toward enterprise compliance because the team plan needs it. Current security posture is strong but the formal certification is still being completed.
Why this matters
The promise of a digital twin is that it knows you well enough to write like you. That promise only works if you trust the system with your data. We built Pranan with that trust model in mind from day one. The product would not work otherwise.
